Removal of metalwork

Generally metal work is used to fix a broken bone and is buried deep under both skin and muscle. When the bone has healed the metal work may no longer be required but is usually safe to be left in place. If it is causing pain and discomfort or is infected careful consideration will be given by the consultant as to its removal.
